First rules question:

If I assign damage from Thugs (3 physical attack, brutal) to my Guardian Golems unit (3 armor, physical resist) do the Guardian Golems take any damage?

With physical resistant units, I reduce the attack/damage (these are the same thing, apparently?) by the unit's armor first, then deal damage. So if I reduce Thugs' 3 damage by the Guardian Golems' 3 armor, they'll take 0 damage, because 0x2=0. Right?

Or are damage and attack, though equal, actually distinct in some way, which allows Thugs to still deal Guardian Golems 1 damage?

Second rules question:

Are 'advanced action' cards a subset of 'action' cards or are they a distinct category?

I'm not sure if I'm allowed to use Maximal Effect with Counterattack; it seems a bit broken. (But maybe only sometimes?)

Thanks!

Since the Thugs have brutal, they are dealing 6 damage, not 3, and so your golems will take a wound. (But they will soak up all 6 damage.)

Yes, advanced action cards are considered action cards, and hence can be used with Maximal Effect.
